Is tftp.exe a real threat!

How can I check if tftp.exe (trivial file transfer protocol) poses a threat
Its a native Microsoft authenticated programme, but there have been several
posts on sites warning it poses a serious threat as Malware can disguise itself
as the tftp.exe process and remain hidden
