View Full Version : Firefox hates Java.

On Ubuntu 8.04; 8.10 and CentOS 5.3
The java test site is working - showing the dancing duke etc.,
but useless on other sites eg. this graph from sharenet..
http://www.sharenet.co.za/charts/index.php?load=BTI

No Script is of course set to whitelist the sharenet site.
On very rare occasions it works, but mostly I have to force quit.

Opera has absolutely no problems.

8.04 and 8.10 use sun java from repos. CentOS uses sun java 1.6 update 12
Anyone else experiencing this with FF ?

Edit: Actually 8.04 is OK - only 8.10 and CentOS running FF

Nope, didn't notice this.
Can you run FF from command line and see what gives? Any errors?

The problem was Adblock Plus. .. so I must remember to disable it when
java is required for the graphs on that site.
Sorry Firefox.

Works fine here in FF and Opera Ubuntu 8.10x64 using JRE 1.6.0_13x64

For FF I have Adblock Plus and for Opera I have Fanboyz adblock filter.

Works perfectly here with IcedTea and FF 3.0.8 on Fedora 10.

For me it only works if I totally disable Adblock Plus for that site - have tried
various exceptions (@@|http://xxx) but no luck. Funny thing
is that it sometimes works without disabling ABP,
only whitelisting the domain. Screenshot FF in CentOS.

Anyway no errors running FF from terminal.
Opera (my default browser) loads the applets quite a bit faster than FF btw.
Maybe it's a conflict with No Script/ABP on that site - no idea.
