Firewall Challenge has been renamed to Proactive Security Challenge. There were several reasons why we decided to rename this project. We wanted to stress out the fact that this project always focused on security products that implement application-based security model and behavior blocking features – i.e. most of Internet security suites, HIPS, personal firewalls and behavior blockers on the market. We want to mitigate misunderstanding and criticism of our project by eliminating the word firewall from its name and web pages. You can read what kind of products do we test in Proactive Security Challenge in the project's FAQ. We have also modified the content of the projects web pages so that the focus and goals of the project should be clear.
The challenge will continue very soon. " }-

Recently, Agnitum Ltd. released a new free version of Outpost Firewall and also Tall Emu Pty Ltd released a new version of their Online Armor Personal Firewall. A great opportunity for Proactive Security Challenge testing.
We have also included the latest version of Privatefirewall and three products that have not been tested in our challenge before. These were CA Internet Security Suite Plus, eConceal Pro for Windows and ThreatFire Free. How did they score? See the results of Proactive Security Challenge. " }-

I just don't understand why they tested only OA full 3.5, and they didn't test OA free 3.5 ???

I also would be curious to see how OA Free does. CIS and Outpost do amazingly well for free products!" }-
Excellent result for Online Armor Paid. Congratulations.
Surpassingly good result for Outpost Firewall Free.
Too bad that OA free is not tested.
Now we can say that we have real "Battle of Titans".
Besides good paid programs as OA and Outpost (here can also be include Comodo), we have also competition between freewares : OA Free, Comodo , Outpost Firewall Free.
And also there satisfactory PC Tools Firewall.

Outpost free beats outpost paid. I bet agnitum will ask matousec to either remove the free version or indicate its at a later version which is why it got a better result. I also thought they would not test the free version.
-{ Quote: "> 4) Are there any plans for it to be tested by David Matousec?
No, don't think so, at least in the near future. We determined to always
submit Outpost Security Suite Pro for Matousec tests." }-

Look at the testing dates from the report files.
Outpost Pro: February 16, 2009
Outpost Free: May 2, 2009
There is a new version of Outpost Pro, which is 6.5.4 (2525.381.0687). So it may beat the free one (or get the same result) when it is tested with the current version.
