I am trying to merge an empty partition of 19 GB (S: ) to the partition that contains the Vista OS of 60 GB (C: ) with Disk Director Suite 10. For the third time now the S: partition disappeared and the C: partition remained at the same size. No error message while rebooting or similar. When reopening Disk Director suite, the smaller partition is there again, however, as unallocated space. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

Vista does not like having changes made to its running partition, so for best results you should try the operation from the Acronis recovery CD while Vista is not running. If you have not yet created a recovery CD, use the Bootable Media Builder option on the Tools menu to make one. Be sure to include both the "safe" and "full" mode versions of DD on the disk. Boot your PC from the CD and try the operation again. If full mode does not see your disk try safe mode.

However, the function that you want to use is "Resize"; not "Merge". When DD starts, select manual mode. Right-click on the Vista partition and choose "Resize". Drag the slider in the graphic image to the right until the Vista partition occupies the entire disk and there is no more unallocated space either before or after the partition. Click on the checkered flag to commit the change.
