AHCI and rescue boot CD

Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H running sata mode as AHCI for eSata capability. Windows Vista x64 SP-1.

I am trying to run the Disk Director Suite 10 Full from the boot cd. When it goes to access USB it reads "USB HC takeover failed...." next line ends in "error=(-110)." Goes to next screen and says "E000101F4: Acronis Disk Director Suite has not found any hard dik drives."

If I boot to DD in safe mode, it sees the drive and the partitions. When I try to resize a partition "Win Vista x64 SP1 boot partiontion" safe mode hangs the computer up and I have to reboot by the reset button or power off.

No AHCI support?

For the Full Mode version of DD, have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317) thread?

Have you tried turning off AHCI, booting to the DD CD, making the changes and then switching back to AHCI mode before booting into Windows?

Are any errors reported on the partition? Have you run chkdsk /f on it to check for errors?

Do you have a current backup image of the drive? It's always best, just in case something goes wrong (regardless of which partitioning software you use).
