Am i secure?

this laptop is about 6 months old atm and when i first got it i got avira personal.
but then BT internet said i can have their security product which was basically norton 07 relicensed and it was good it had the basics: firwall/av/as etc

but then they had an "upgrade" to mcafee 07 relicensed which i decided id give a try and it has many more features than the basic norton and more configurations.
but i cant help but feel that maybe i would be better off with using avira and various free programs instead of mcafee can anyone give advice on this.

ive got comodo defence+ and sandboxie for extra safety

If you are asking which antivirus is better on your system, chances are the thread might get closed to avoid any tension among members. I think the best would be for you to try out different companies and do some reading. I've noticed that the versions of Norton and McAfee you are talking about are 07, perhaps you should try to get the 2009 versions which seem to work very well particularly for Norton.

I personally don't like suites, and one can certainly build a nice free system using different companies.

no no sorry i wrote the post without checking it over, my ISP offers the suites but are they sufficient? they dont offer new 09 models just 07.
will i need any other protection like real-time. i have ondemand scanners like sas.
or would i be better getting something totally different i just want advice on what should go with mcafee to have a safe system? some people recommended threatfire or boclean.

I'm pretty sure that license should work on the latest NIS09, so test if it does. Personally I would use ThreatFire, which you heard was recommended, and also Secunia PSI, in conjuction with NIS, to bolster your protection - but you could probably guess I would, looking at my signature. ;D :P :) Both are free and work in real-time to protect you.

The Secunia PSI will scan your system for software with vulnerable versions, and if it exists, give you a direct-link to download a new for that software to get it up-to-date. Its real-time protection consists of watching the software being installed or removed, updating your local list and checking with its own, online database.

If you meaning are 'they' sufficient, it still means comparing more than one anti-virus.

I wouldn't go with an old product. All you have to do is sit back and read the forum for a week and you'll see which one will suit you.

If you go with a recommendation, you personally, might find slowdowns, BSOD (blue screen of death), conflicts and so on. Seriously, best method is to try out a few yourself.

thanks for such fast responses everybody, the norton/mcafee licenses arent actually the product its a remake so i cant actually get the product just a program with the mcafee in it if you get what i mean but thanks everyone

No problem - we're here to help. ;) Just out of curiousity... how do you mean "Norton/McAfee" - it can only be one. Do you have a screenshot or something?

I agree with Saraceno, I would want a current program rather than something two years old.
As far as how secure you are, it looks to me like you have some good programs in place with Comodo Defense + and Sandboxie.
Beyond that, it's personal preference/what you like better.

well im with uks most popular internet so they try and please customers,
ok so product 1 is bt netprotect which is norton and its their old security product but it is still avail for download and its just a remake of norton 07.
second product is bt netprotect plus their new security and its basically mcafee 07 remade.
so BT were saying mcafee was better

i decided afterall ill go back with avira free in my opinion its has scan results and real-time etc than mcafee
