Since yesterday I'm using Look 'n' stop.
I have to give full credits to the maker of this program it is the Utorrent under the Firewallls :).
The rules/filters are a bit difficult to setup for a leak.
I read the matousec test results and I couldn't believe look n stop was so low even not recommended. Matousec test are valuable by a lot of people who are in the firewall field.
Link (http://www.matousec.com/projects/firewall-challenge/results.php) to the actual test page.

LnS is a single-minded firewall,a very good firewall .
You can chose a HIPS(like ssm) to work with lns:)

Agreed- I use LNS as a FIREWALL and not an AV, anti-trojan, HIPS, etc.

You should be ok if you are careful. I've been fine using just the Vista firewall and Windows defender and Kaspersky antivirus for the last year, no problems at all. I use Firefox with a few good addons. I only decided to switch to LnS because I want more control and a good log but I love it it's very fun to use. Plus I was looking for a different antivirus with a good replacement for Windows defender. But that's only personal, never worried about leak tests because I avoid P2P, p*rn or anything that might be iffy. I like my computer clean and fast.

Avoiding P2P, porn sites, etc isn't good enough anymore with the amount of legit sites being hijacked. It was just a few weeks ago that Kaspersky's site was compromised and serving up malware links.

I don't get it. They label it as good protection but don't recommend it? Does this make sense? Maybe I'm missing something. I don't use LnS but I hear nothing but good things about it.

As far as I can tell, the matousec site believes a "firewall" should have HIPS capabilities, and they test accordingly.
If a firewall fails a HIPS component test it automatically gets a 0% score for that part of the test, so the overall score is reduced, even though the firewall does NOT have a HIPS component !
As people have said above, LnS is a firewall.... not a HIPS program.
I think that`s what it`s all about :-\
(and you can spend all day reading about what people think of those tests)

I also seriously think that hips should not be linked with a firewall... They cannot be blend together.
Firewall that is pure is like looknstop and chx-i
Hybrid that mix firewall + hips together can become unstable unless the developer knows how to balance adaption to user environment.
Looknstop is definitely one good solid firewall, rule-based driver driven thatat its best hope to see more cool features in the future
