Thanks, everybody--I already solved the problem--did not use Sockscap, and reconfig's email to proxy port 9050.

You can't use tor for mail. Why? no exit nodes allow email traffic.

tor works with email on port 443

so i'm guessing TOR will send email through the system if is encyrpted with ssl on port 443?, curious if thats good for hiding header information.

if you've used that mail account before using it through tor, or didn't take the hours to set it up through tor, if you've ever logged into it without tor, if it requires you to allow scripts to run, it is not anonymous.

http://www.gmx.com/service/ offered free e-mail on port 443 that worked with POP3 last I checked (a long time ago). I used to use it with Tor and it worked fine via thunderbird, hid headers etc. I suggest you still use GPG encryption though.
