Restoring a picture that has been deleted

I did a boo boo and deleted a picture and empty my recycle bin. Is there any programs that can find the pictured and replace it? I tried a program called Restoration but it didn't find the photo. I'm using WinXP Home ed.

It has a recovery tool which may or may not work. Hope this helps.

Download the trial of:- get data back for ntfs(assuming your using ntfs file system) you will not be able to recover data with trial copy but you can scan HD to see if the pictures are recoverable.I've found this to be the best of the "home user" recovery programs normally if GDB cant see the data none of the others can either,if it does find data pay for a registered copy which will recover files for you(very easy to use as well!)

Kevin Solway has another program, also available at my previous link, called 'Disk Investigator' that has an 'undelete' feature. This program is a freebie.

By now, however, it may very well be too late for recovery as the file may have been overwritten. 'OOPS' indeed!

I used that program when I was using Win98. I'll take a look at it again and see hat hppens. If I can't get the picture back I'll just have to take another one when I go on vaction. :)

PCInspector dosn't wrok on my computer for some odd readon. I keep getting an error message.

Disk Investigator found the photos but it won't restore it because restore will be in the next full version.

Version 1.3 of Solway's Disk Investigator has an undelete function, and this is what is currently available at the website.

Nope: the 'Undelete' button is bottom dead center of the program window.

Here's a screen shot of what I just downloaded and installed. I see no undelete in the middle.

At upper left, select 'Directories' instead of 'Disk'.

What version of the program do you have? It almost looks as if the program is different for XP than for 98. Anybody else have any ideas?

It's under tools but I can't use it. It says something about undelete not being in this version. It might be different in XP than. Thanks for you help though. :)

Ok I emailed the maker of Disk Investigator about why the matter and here's the response.

On XP Disk Investigator can only recover files on a cluster-by-cluster
basis, which is okay for text files, which you can see, but not for binary
files like images.

Your best bet is to purchase a commercial program for this task. You can
search on google for file recovery software, and download a trial version.
