I would like to try Kapersky AV. I downloaded the trial version but it said it's for demonstration purposes only. Does that mean I can't trust it to protect me while I'm trying it out?

I'm not really into beta versions. Is it working good or are there still bugs in it?

Trial version detects and blocks malware but does not clean it. At least this was the way the KAV demo work last time I tried it a while a ago. :)

One more question. Is there a way to keep NOD on and run Kapersky as a trial version without conflict?

Just don't run both - monitor/amon together.
KAV trial can't update automatically, you have to download the virus updates manually from the Kaspersky website.

Install KAV without the KAV Monitor (and Control Centre).

Now I'm ready to install the Personal version and the install screeen said "Setup could not detect MS Outlook. Kaspersky Anti-Virus mail checker will not be installed." I thought this was suppose to work with Outlook Express. Will it ask me later in the install or is there no email scanning in the trial version?

Not many bugs left in the beta . nothing that will screw up your computer , if that is what you are asking.

KAV mailscanner only works with Outlook - not Outlook Express.

Kav 5 is buggy at the moment(I've removed it and sent reports to kaspersky,I found latest version worse than previous:-kept on unloading, locking when downloading email via outlook are just 2 of the probs I encountered.
You can get a fully working trial of 4.5 which performs as full version, its the demo version that doesn't disinfect etc, contact kaspersky and they will send you a link to trial version+trial key file email sales@kaspersky.com

I had the same experience some 10 days ago that I tried
it.
Lockups and freezes.:(
I must say that some hours it was working
it was looking better than 4.5 :)

Apart from 5 beta being buggy its not as configurable as 4.5,GUI has been oversimplified at the expense of customization to suit needs, but it does some things better(not many!)

Maybe this will clear your confusion.....it DOES protect in Outlook Express...Only the Mail Checker will not work....read below carefully....
Permanent e-mail anti-virus filtration
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Personal Pro automatically checks for viruses in all incoming and outgoing messages in real time, and will prevent viruses from penetrating your computer. Supporting many e-mail database formats (MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express, MS Exchange, Eudora, MS Mail, Pegasus Mail, Netscape Mail, JSMail, MIME), the program is effective against viruses in e-mail-message storage areas. In addition to this, the built-in Mail Checker efficiently removes viruses from e-mail messages in MS Outlook, MS Exchange Client, and completely restores the original contents of your messages.
Hope this helps....

Hoochie:- I think what they were "talking about" with ref to email protection was mailchecker component of KAV 4.5 which is designed specifically for use with outlook, other clients are protected by the monitor which blocks any viruses etc once they are accessed, mailchecker removes them automatically from outlook as they are received.
I think(not sure)that on kav5 the mailchecker is going to work at winsock level,so should give automatic protection on receiving mail no matter which client you use

Hi,
Trial versions can be downloaded from:-
www.kasperskylab.co.uk/files
Click on Homeuser for Lite/Personal/Personal Pro
for business click on Business_optimal
They have 30 day trial keys with the exception of the Mail Server or Linux products you would need to request a trial for these to sales@kasperskylab.co.uk
