View Full Version : Does Mamutu stop Trojan Simulator?

I had used a file called Trojan Simulator

http://www.misec.net/trojansimulator/

to test Mamutu and other anti-malware software. Since I have Comodo firewall, I was asked by it if I wanted to allow the file to run. I okayed it (without allowing it to remember my action) and one or two more, so that it would run. Then, Mamutu kicked in and stopped the program from running. But now Mamutu is not blocking it, and I'm wondering if it's just my computer, on which Windows seems to be breaking down (honestly, I looked in Program Files, and there were remnants of at least fifty to a hundred programs I had tried and uninstalled. Next Windows reinstall, I Shadow Defender all new programs!) If anyone has a secure enough setup where this supposedly (?) harmless test program can be run to test Mamutu, I would love to hear from you. I don't know if a new version of Mamutu is to blame, or my failing Windows. I want to finish testing all the security software I'm going to use before my reinstall, so I don't have to play around anymore. I want Mamutu to be a keeper. I just don't know of any way to test it, unfortunately, except for that one program I heard of.

Have you asked Mamutu support this question, or posted/searched on their forum?

I'll tell you what... avast! is all over that little trojan simulator. :thumb:

Both NOD32 and Prevx Edge prevents this from running also.

Funny you mention this-- I just recently installed Avast (Free) and it was messing up my Mamutu test because it kept stopping it first! I had to right-click the system tray icon and select "Stop On-Access Protection" to prevent it from beating Mamutu to the draw. But I still don't know if a fresh Windows install would correct Mamutu, which I beleive did stop it when I first tested it. No, I haven't contacted them yet.

You know, I tried Prevx Edge for a very short time, and it seemed to make my hard drive make these loud sort of clanks when it accessed the drive on a scan. Don't know if you experience anything like that, and it's hard to describe the sound. But good to know it stops the program. Then again, I honestly don't know if that's a very hard program to stop, since it's well known. I don't have any idea where the smart people on these forums get the bad stuff to test their setups on.

I'm guessing they visit a lot of porn sites although I'm sure they'd say Russian warez sites.;)

What I would say though is that Emsi always say that they don't try to pass these POC tests since they're not actually malicious,Mamutu is intelligent enough to know the difference.
