Just another sad story of the erosion of privacy in the land where '1984' (George Orwell) was written:

Interesting idea, effective, but poorly implemented. There's no real privacy loss here though, they can do nothing more with that equipment than determine heat. They can't see you through the wall, hear your conversation, so privacy is an invalid argument. The poor implementation comes from spending the money, and, if it was the case, being "sneaky" about it. Energy is everyones problem though, and tackling it would do more for any economy than all the stimulus packages and cutbacks in the world.

But again, I'm sorry to disagree, but as far as privacy is concerned, the residents don't have a leg to stand on, not with that equipment.
