View Full Version : Am I spamming myself?

Sorry, was not sure where to post this - please move to a different forum if necessary.

I am getting regular spam emails from my own email address. Obviously I know that I am not sending these and I assume the return path with my email address is just faked.
I wonder if I can find out more about where this is coming from and if there is anything I can do now apart from changing my email address.
The header looks like:

-{ Quote: "Return-Path: <myaddress@myispxxx.com>
Received: from ip67-90-127-78.z127-90-67.customer.algx.net (ip67-90-127-78.z127-90-67.customer.algx.net [67.90.127.78])
by mail08.myispxxx.com (8.13.1/8.13.1) with ESMTP id n2O7rPid019030
for <myaddress@myispxxx.com>; Tue, 24 Mar 2009 18:53:30 +1100

Message-Id: <200903240753.n2O7rPid019030@mail08.myisp.comxxx>
From: "Drugs.com" <myaddress@myispxxx.com>
To: myaddress@myispxxx.com
Subject: Wet and ready for you all night" }-

Looking at it closely I notice that the email address is not quite right as the country suffix is missing, so I guess I am lucky not to get the bounces but only the straight spam.

Any other hints or tips?

As an individual changing my email address is relatively easy. Keeping a close watch on it and only giving it out selectively is also no problem but how do I deal with this issue as a business? I can prevent the email address from being harvested from our website but if some customer's address book is compromised, there is nothing I can do - or can I?
