avscan.exe trying to connect to the internet

I just downloaded Avira AntiVir free 9, and ran a full scan.
During scanning I got a D+ pop up saying avscan.exe is trying to connect to the internet.
Is this normal?

That's normal behaviour.Although I'm not 100% sure what it's connecting for I'd guess it's either some form of in the cloud verification or checking that it's using the latest database.

Avscan is part of avira, wat its connecting to or why i dont know though, ud probly get a better answer if u post this in the avira forums
