View Full Version : 64 bit anti-malware

Over the past few years I've run NOD32, SAS and MBAM as my AV and anti-malware apps.

Next week I'm moving entirely to using a 64 bit OS on which SAS and MBAM will not run.

Does anyone here know of a 64 bit compatible anti-malware app which performs as well as the above or am I stuck with Windows Defender?

Hmm, Spybot isn't compatible either, what about free software?

Hopefully if windows7 goes 64bit only some things will change.

hi hawki,

For NOD32, yes it run under 64 bit, for MBAM and SAS, i think they run under x64 in a 32 bit mode it's you can use them as on demand scanner not in real time protection.

But in the MBAM forum guys said they work on a 64 bits resident module, for SAS i don't know.

Thanks for the fast replies all.

I'll give SAS Pro a try on Vista 64 when I install it. I guess my problem when trying it out on Windows 7 64 bit was that I had real time protection enabled and it was throwing up a load of errors in the event log about SAS drivers being unable to be loaded.
According to Nick on the SAS forums they are hoping to release a version with 64 bit drivers by the end of the year.

i only mentioned NOD32 as it's the AV I use, I realise that there are no probs with using it on a 64 bit OS as they have a specific 64 bit version.

Anyway thanks again all, I guess I've got plenty of options to choose from now :)

KIS2009 working great here on Vista 64 bit.

Also, use SAS as on demand with no problems.

I used SAS real time on 64x. I never tried MBAM -- used that only on demand.

Sas realtime works on Vista 64 without a single problem so far, also consider Trojan Hunter

im running kis2009 and superantispyware on vista 64bit.
scanning and realtime works with superantispyware on 64bit vista but the repairs such as internet settings reset etc dont work on 64bit yet.
