ESS V4.0.314 Hanging

Recently I seems to have a problem with ESS V4.0.314 hanging when I boot-up the computer.
The splash screen (robotman) comes up but does not continue with the program install, it just hangs there and freezes up the computer.
This has happened now several times to me, and is very frustrating.
However I have been able to overcome this by re-booting and reverting the hard drive to an earlier time, after which it boots-up normally.
Does anybody else have this problem, and what would cause this to happen?

Have you tried running ccleaner and a safe mode defrag?

Yes, I sure have; using CCleaner and Defragger on a daily basic.
It's strange that this problem only happened 3 times since I installed the final version, and it never happened when I used the Beta and RC release of version 4.

What sort of Internet connection does the computer have, and as it active/permanently on before the computer starts up?
