Anyone know one of the best and simplest cd boot tool to remove passwords on Windows, especially one that works for Vista?
Looking for freeware if possible.
So far the only freeware one I know is, 'Offline NT Password & Registry Editor'.
Offline NT Password & Registry Editor any good for Vista?
Need to use something as a tech that is going to be dependable and not cause problems.
THANKS

DasFox, are you aware of System Information for Windows (http://www.gtopala.com)? It's a standalone utility that will recover passwords via the Secrets category, also with a built-in reveal password asterisk utility called Eureka!

Not looking for a recovery utility, just one to remove or reset it.

That offline nt password reset bootcd is what I have used to reset xp on my computers numerous of times. It always works for me. It's a very valuable utility that everyone should have.
It's suppose to work on vista too, but don't have vista for me to try it.
When you boot it up it looks confusing with "dos" looking interface, but as long as you choose the default settings you should be ok. It has never harmed any of my computers, but it wouldn't hurt to image the OS you will be using the tool on especially with the numerous free hard drive imaging software.

I was able to try a copy of Passware Kit Enterprise and use the Windows Key recovery, very impressive, also very expensive, but maybe worth it if you need all the recovery software it works with.

I'll have to compare this to Spotmau PowerSuite 2009.
Spotmau PowerSuite 2009 worked good for me on XP and Vista.

According to this guy, Offline NT is the only thing that he knows of that will work on vista.

For Domain Admin password resetting procedures please see the Related Articles section at the bottom of this page." }-
This blog has a little more to say about it.

This utility is used to reset the password of any user that has a valid and local account on any NT based system: NT4, 2000, XP, Vista and 2003. If you need to reset a password stored in active directory, stop right here, this editor will not allow you to do it." }-
I aslo cam across Emergency Boot CD on another blog, it not free ($29 USD). It seems to have a Windows Password Wizard feature... sorry I haven't tried it.
