fce, here's some info on that mcupdate.exe (http://www.auditmypc.com/process/mcupdate.asp) and it's part of McAfee. Sounds like it's trying to call home during the boot up process. I don't have McAfee but perhaps there's a setting somewhere to disable auto updates on start up.
