Hi,
I've been trying to configure our clients to send me email alerts when a threat is detected. I have configured NOD with a valid email account username & password (we are using Exchange 2007) but when i try and test the alerts using an eicar virus test file the threat warning pops up on my client but i dont get any email? can someone please help?
Thanks

OK, here are my settings & the testing i've done
NOD32 Client Settings - Alerts & Notifications
SMTP server - mail.myorg.co.nz
smtp username nod32
password ****
sender address nod32@myorg.co.nz
recipient address nod32@myorg.co.nz
The NOD32 user is a valid active directory & exchange user, i can login, access the mailbox, send & receive internal & external mail OK with this user account.
BUT when i trigger a virus alert using an eicar test file I dont get an email?? The threat log on the server gets updated but no email alert?
I have searched the exchange message tracking logs and spam quarantine mailbox on the server and cant find the messages anywhere?
Can someone please help?
Thanks

Hello dianeb,
Run netstat, trigger the alert, and then look for socket to mail server.
Thank you,

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have done some more testing and found that the email alerts fail because our Exchange email server is not configured to allow basic authenication for sending emails. This is not something I want to change either!
Is there any way to configure the RA server to send email alerts when a client has a virus threat detected?

Diane, I'm not familar with Exchange 2007 but in 2003 I think you can allow basic authentication from a subnet, e.g. your local LAN. That should be safe enough shouldn't it?

Hello dianeb,
{QUOTE-> Is there any way to configure the RA server to send email alerts when a client has a virus threat detected? <-QUOTE}
You can use the notification manager in RA to configure your notifications. To do so see our Knowledgebase article here: http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN957
Also, refer to section 5.4 Notification manager on page 49 of our user manual here: http://www.eset.com/download/ERA_Manual_ENU.pdf
Thank you,
Richard
