why doesn't nod32 update software?

I paid for a nod32 2 year license recently and I notice that the software does not update itself. There is a new version 4.0 but I was never notified that I could download it and there were newer 3.0 builds released but I was never notified.

Is this the way the software works? I have to visit the website to find out what is new?

V3 users will be updated automatically to v. 3.0.684 some time soon.
