XP SP3
ESET 3.0,657.0

had to restore my PC to an earlier date via a Acronis true Image .
My eset is stuck at 11/9/08 and when I update , it says I am current.

I downloaded the neweset version, but I can't install, or even uninstall the old & then install the new.

I get a error that a Eset file is in use- ... Charon/cache.ndb

Any thoughts?

Can you do a repair install from the control panel?

I ended up following the instructions on manually uninstalling.
I had high hopes after a reboot, then during the install I go an error msg saying:
"a network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:/windows/installer/ess_NT32_enu.MSI - but I see no such folder.

Would your suggestion still work- & where do I find the repair install from the control panel ?
Or did you mean repair Icons in Tweak UI ?

You could try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) It's a small program. Remove the ESET entry if it listed and try to install again.
