Hi,
if you want to have a free license for Gdata AV, IS or Total Care, just sign up at the Rokop forum and shoot the breeze in the corresponding thread.
Just some fiddling yackety yack with Google Translator.
At the end of the beta test the GData guy will invite every participant of their shameless advertising campaign at this rotten forum to send him a PM for a free license.
BTW the 'beta tests' are a real farce, last year they delivered the Kaspersky/Avast version for testing and finally released the Bitdefender/Avast version, which no beta tester had ever seen before. :argh:
Cheers

I wonder if they will stay with current setup this time. Or they will surprise us again.
Anyone tested this ? I mean Av, not security suite.
Some info about performance and resource usage and possible detection ?

Devs ditched the kav engine in favor of the bitdefender one (running along with the avast engine) for all this year's versions. That was a bad move, imo.

I've been looking all over the Internet for a G DATA Forum. No luck so far. They don't have any, is that it? I'd like to know for sure because I'm not buying unless they have a Forum. I will not accept being confined to emails for support. That's just not good enough nowadays. I want full access to that knowledge base that a Forum always is.

Also: is it known which firewall is inside G DATA Total Care 2009 (and 2010 Beta)? The malware is covered by Avast! and BitDefender but I'd like to know the specs about the firewall too.

Nope and there is no official G DATA Forum, neither in German nor in English.
At their international site you can just ask for a 'Service request' or call the 'G DATA EmergencyLine'.

As far as I know the firewall is a made by GData and pretty basic, at least related to leak test results.
And if I remember correctly, Matousec stated for the GData IS 2009, that it achieved the worst performance results of all tested FW.

It's ridiculous. An open search-able Forum is a minimum requirement when it comes to support. And access to a free discussion with other users in the threads. I would also expect to find articles and tutorials with user comments in various posts in a security forum. Just like here. So no G DATA for me.
Thanks again for your help.

I'm running the AV 2010 beta and it seems they have improved the RAM usage. I am showing about 40k total in running processes. The 2009 AV was running over 200k last time I tested it. Maybe they fixed some of the bloat. We'll see. The on-demand scan is a bit faster than the 2009 version, and I have both engines enabled. Seems to be a bit faster overall on my system.

The system isn't much slowed down with this version unless you browse through a folder with many big exes, e.g. installers. Then it can happen that the whole explorer freezes for some seconds and it takes years until the icons of the programs appear. That's why I hate multi engine scanners at least if the use Avast (slow) + Bitdefender (system hog) :gack:

Well, actually if you observe the situation is not something strange. At least not from Kaspersky side.
At first AOL was using their engine for their on-demand scanner.
Then, Kaspersky pull off.
After that the same happend to G-Data, and To Online Armour.
And this are the examples that i can think of now, and i can't recall if there were some similar cases.
I don't know what scheme uses Kaspersky, but is not quite good.
Either they should give the engine to someone and let them use it for couple of years or not give the engine at all.
When Avira give their engine to Lavasoft (Helix AV), and Avast and Bidefender are giving their engines, i don't see the logic in the Kaspersky moves.
I don't think that G-Data have some choice.

Although there was not an official word on the change of engines, according to rokop forums some power testers suggested it was possibly due to better multithreading capabilities of the BD engine against the KAV one.
Users with multicore processors should see a dramatic improvement in speed and performance respect to 2008 and earlier versions (as i did when i tested it).
I just don't trust much on the BD detection rate :-\

If you consider that Kaspersky's Anti-Virus SDK is still based on version 5 (at least, a few months ago this was still the case) it's not weird company's change to Bitdefender/Avira/AVAST SDK's.

Tried Gdata, its surprisingly light for a multi-engine product. Something I hope F-Secure is also trying to emulate. Anti-Spam is accurate, Firewall is so-so.
But one issue I had with Gdata 2010, is its webfilters/Http Scanner. It really slows down the net access.
Didn't explore much deeper, maybe after the English Build arrives.

By the way, according to this article:
http://www.gdata.de/ueber-g-data/pressecenter/pressemeldungen/news-details/article/1133-die-schnellste-security-softwa.html
The 2010 German version will be released in early April.
My BETA license is going to expire in 5 days (check the screenshots). Just wonder if there will be a new beta license for the English version?
P/S: Some bugs I've found so far:
- G DATA Shredder will not open
- The help files is still the 2009's ones
- If you click on "What will happen if my license expires?" the program will say "Cannot open help files"

GDATA 2010 beta, was very light. Its resource usage could be comparable to many single engine AV solutions.
They have employed whitelisting to reduce the over-head and it really works. Memory usage for me was typically between 55 to 65 MB for me. And they now have a Norton 2009 like cpu guage in the GUI to show you how many cycles GDATA is eating into.

A 1 second increase too in the First launch of the browser. GDATA make a Good work with this version. Here is consuming the same resources of much Single engine AVs.

Guys, I noticed that there were a few complaints about support in the thread earlier - We (UIS) are setting up a 24/7 support centre for customers and this should be live early May - You can get live support on the website from 09.00am - 21.00pm GMT and emails will get a response pretty much straight away. I will STRESS that we can only support products that have been purchased from the UIS site as my friends in Germany do not allow me access to other countries sales information or platforms - putting it straight - I can only help and support products that we have sold even though we are all G Data we can only see our own sales on the German servers.
UIS is the official country partner of G data in the UK but we sell all over the world via our site and resellers.
We will be at the Infosec show in London 28, 29 and 30th April stand J 40 come and say hello.

I'm using it as an on-demand scanner only. Its working great. Pleasant GUI. CPU usage is 15-22K with virus monitor disabled. The 2009 version was over 100K with the monitor disabled. So, a major difference. Its now a viable on-demand scanner for me. I don't mind the minor CPU usage, but others might. To each his own.

Ok so finished checking the prevention capabilities of Gdata Antivirus 2010.
Tested it against 21 malware, and all were after 18th april, so there was quite a lot of time to add samples.
Out of 21 it missed 2 samples, from those 2, 1 was not detected by most AVs, when i uploaded to virustotal, around 4 detected it, so i submitted the sample to Avast and Bitdefender.
The other one was detected by 13 other softwares, including Avast, but GD didn't find it, and let it run.
So really good performance by Gdata.
Another thing, can someone confirm that from the two engines, which is Avast's and Which is Bitdefender's.
I think Engine B is Avast and Engine A is Bitdefender. Why i ask this is that all most all the malware was detected by Engine B(i think Avast) and very few by Bitdefender.
One more thing that concerns me is that Gdata is very much dependent of the other 2 companies to add samples, if they wont, then Gdata wont detect anything, it would have been better if they had some kind of Their own technology.
P.S: All the malware was detected by the HTTP scanning function, and i never had to download anything to the HDD, that i think proves that the feature in Gdata works great, here is an image of Bitdefender blocking something.

I'm having a strange issue with GData 2010. After a period of time, a few hours to a few days, if I right or left click on the tray icon it shuts down. The program is still running but the icon is gone. If I re-boot it's back or if I activate the tray exe in the programs folder it will re start. Anyone else seen this?

I was going to get a license of Gdata, cause the my testing really showed its detection and prevention is top notch.
I didn't do a full scan before, today i did one.
Started the Scan at 6Pm, and it FINISHED AT 1AM, thats 7 freakin hrs. It did detect 20 malware, but it took so long. So uninstalled it, and just giving Avira a second chance.
P.S: I have a E2200 with 2GB ram, so that not a issue, comodo and Avira took around 1hr and 1.30hrs to scan.

I downloaded a trial copy to see what it was like before rolling an test copy out over our LAN. the hourly update takes 100% CPU, no throttling evident. Logs in .txt format and always in "simple" format by default, would rather it remembered I selected advanced and also I wanted to know previous and new versions when it updated.
I've gone back to Avira for now. Still looking for a decent LAN based AV solution since Symantec got rid of CE 10.

I think I remember GData listing Agnitum as a technical partner before. Maybe they used Agnitum in earlier modules.
EDIT:
Just checked GDATA now doesn't list Agnitum. But now it includes Sunbelt.
http://www.gdata.de/partner/technologiepartner.html
So maybe its SPF. (Since Sunbelt doesn't provide VIPRE engine, iHateSpam to Gdata. So logically it might just be SPF. Also no other partner listed has a standalone Firewall product/SDK available.)

I purchased and installed G-Data TotalCare 2010 yesterday. Everything installed fine, except that the G-Data Shredder didn't install. I completely uninstalled the application, per customer service directions, using the AVCleaner tool and reinstalled the app. The Shredder module doesn't even appear on the custom install list as the help file says it should. >:(
Customer Service sent me a link to the ISO, which I downloaded, burned, and reinstalled. Same thing. Does anyone else have this problem with the current version on the website? I'm thinking that they accidentally built the installer without the Shredder on this version. Please help.

This is the link:

I originally used the link on my purchase confirmation page. I then used the link off g-data.de. I then used the ISO link that customer service sent. All of them install the app just fine, but do not install the Shredder portion of the app. The choice is not even in the custom install screen during installation.

There are no conflicts with anything else on my computer because it it really the only thing on this fresh install (XP - SP3). The plus side is it really is nice to look at and easy to use. Hy guys!
I'm very happy with G DATA 2010 Internet Security but i have 1 question.
Where can i send malware samples that G DATA couldn't detect?
I asked this from G DATA support but they are very-very slow, i got an e-mail from them 2 weeks later!:thumbd: And i think they couldn't understand that i need just an e-mail address for the malwer samples, like AVG does(virus@avg.com).
So i have send the samples to Bitdefender and AVAST, 4 days ago. Still not an answer from Bitdefender(support@bitdefender.com) and Avast(virus@avast.com), G DATA still not detects it. I don't want to use another security software, i'm happy with G DATA, i just wanted to help them improve their detection.

Either they (Avast & BD) don't consider your samples to be a legit threat or they just are slow at processing submissions.
AFAIK, GData does not have an email address for sending samples. Can anyone confirm?

That's a shame on G DATA. A company must cooperate with users to fight against malware. I don't know how much it coasts to create a webpage to upload suspicious files(like a-squared) or create an e-mail address for the possible malwares(like Avira and Kaspersky).

Hi Narxis,
the tuning module works fine on x64.
The browser PlugIns are modified in 2010. You can add urls to a whitelist to exclude these urls from httpScanning.
You also can modify the whitelist using the main GUI.
The PugIns are not activated by default.
IE: Toolbar-Menu > Check "G Data WebFilter"
FF: View > Toolbars > customize: drag the G Data icon and drop it in the toolbar region

I'm running Vista x64 with SP2.
This is the error message when i trying to start G DATA tuner:

What is that AVKTuner.mdb? There isn't such a file in my G DATA folder.
When i want to start G DATA backup service, i got this error:

The tuner and backup databases contain settings and logs.
Check your registry:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Shell Folders
There should exist a string-entry "Common AppData" (REG_SZ) Value: C:\ProgramData
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Shell Folders
There also should exist a string-entry "Common AppData" (REG_SZ) Value: C:\ProgramData

No need to open the mdb manually.
curious...can you check the properties (security pane) of the .mdb files?
Are all permissions granted to the users/groups "SYSTEM" and "LOCAL"?
Did you disable UAC on your system?
Perhaps that causes some trouble during installation.
I don´t have any further ideas...

I checked them, everything is normal. UAC is on, never turned off.
I give up, i will reinstall Internet Security.
No problem, i have other softwares for pc tuning and backup is not important for me.

Hi Everyone,
I've decided to post my question here since it looks like tech support at G-data is horrible and takes a long time before answering. So here's my story/question :
I've bought G-Data Software Total Care 2010 last week and installed it on my laptop. Everyting was working fine until 3 days ago since my windows decided to freeze instantly without a reason. Even re-starting did'nt do any good. I'm not implying that G-data Total Care is the cause.
I'm now thinking about re-installing everything which means that I would have to uninstall G-data and re-install it. Unfortunately, I bought a 3 licence pack because I need it installed on 3 computer. If I uninstall from my laptop and re-install it, will it cost me one licence ? I hope there's a way to identify the PC on which it is installed and that the G-data database will understand that it is the same PC.
Is anyone can help me ? I don,t want to wait 3 weeks before having an answer from G-data...
Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,
no need to worry.
You can reinstall without losing a license.
If there are too many important "changes" on your "new" system (e.g. new cpu, OS reinstalled), you will perhaps get a notification that another system was registered for updates and you will be asked to transmit the update permission to the new system.
This mechanism will allow you to transmit the permisson 10 times (for each of your licences).
If you don´t reinstall your os and just reinstall TotalCare no "update permission"-transmission is needed.
I hope that my explanation wasn´t too confusing.
I´m using the german version and do not know the translation of the relevant terms used in the english version.

Ford

Hope I can properly ask for some insight on the main release of GData 2010 here, as I see the title is towards the beta...
Two issues (so far):
1) I installed the trial of GData IS and was real unhappy as though I would click on the pop-ups to allow some program's activity, I had to click on the "Allow" every time I restarted the computer for those same programs, such as Wallpaper Master - no updates of it nor changes of versions or anything else that should trigger a new dialog (Network and IDS type activity). Did they miss keeping a database of allowed program activities, or did I miss a setting?
2) I uninstalled GData IS as I was sick of the above behavior, but I still wanted the GData AV so I installed that (along with Comodo FireWall only, whose implementation of establishing network activity and IDS rules seemed very good to me). I now can't get an update of the database even though it showed I have 14 days of trial available. I tried the username and password previously issued, but I suspect that is being rejected as it was issued under the IS product. If I select that I need new issued, I get a dialog asking for my paid registration number. That ends with this computer having a definition base from something like April of this year, which leaves me rather uncomfortable.
What impresses me about GData AV is the use of combined scanning engines and the claims of speed, very low resource footprint and how the background activity is not user noticeable. Though I see that this claim is far from true when it comes to email scanning, am I eating up a bunch of horse-poop outside of what I already have uncovered?
I have submitted support requests on both of these items and have been looking forward to response soon as the site shows a 48 hour response time (more horsey poop?), but reading this forum over gives the impression that I will not be seeing any response in the near future; certainly not before my trial expires if some reports are correct. I want to use this product as the reviews I read were very good, but I already find that the reviewers seem to have been able to have had an experience unlike mine (I am being polite, giving the possibility of my inneptitude consideration and giving the reviewers the benefit of the doubt, hoping that the reviews were not advertising dollar generated nor lack of use and in want to slap up an article). Can you folks help me out???
P.S. I was even bright enough since my last post of a few days ago to correct my email address so I will actually be notified this time when a response is posted!:gack:

Hi Ade1,
it´s correct that G Data offers spyware protection.
G Data stated that some user want to run e.g. Windows Defender in parallel.
There are no conflicts between these apps, so G Data doesn´t deactivate Windows Defender, which is running on most users system´s by default.

Thanks for this. I haven't had Windows Defender enabled for a while now - do most users use it in conjunction with G-Data? If so, I'm more than happy to re-enable it.
@Badcompany - looks like you're running XP. In Vista, the Security Center is split into firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware. G-Data shows in the first two but doesn't have an entry under anti-spyware. All I have showing under that heading is 'Windows Defender is currently disabled'. Hope this clarifies for you.

I do not really know if it is helpful to keep Defender enabled.
But there are neither conflicts nor performance issues on my system - so I keep Defender enabled.

Just deactivate the alert notification for the AS tool in your system. I mean, choose to monitor yourself the AS status (unless you want to reactivate WD).
For some reason, the Vista SecurityCenter does not detect the AS capabilities of the GData products, at least in my experience. I have WD disabled all the time btw.

Thanks for your reply. I've actually re-enabled WD (to compliment G-Data) and I've noticed no effect on performance whatsoever so I'll keep it like this for the time being.
Would be good if G-Data managed to integrate into the AS element in the future - it's just me, I like things to be 'right'!

One other quick question!
Whenever I open a PDF file, I get a pop-up from G-Data's Behaviour Monitor saying something about PD-Xviewer (which I've used for a long time now) trying to modify something (sorry for being vague - I'm currently at work and only have it on my home pc). Anyway, the options are 'allow' or 'prohibit' - I choose 'allow' but the pop-up always shows up from then on. Would have been good to have an 'always allow' option or do I just add PD-Xviewer to the exclusions list under monitoring?

I'm trying this out too! I really like it. Even though it yelled at me about having Prevx installed, they are getting along fine.
One thing I would like and I know it is a small thing...I wish you could see a log of what it has scanned. Not just the last file. Or I wish I could see it in real time. I like how NOD32 scanner just flings the file names by as it is scanning.
The one thing I care about is how many processes it has running. Wow, although the ram isn't too bad and I have 8 gigs. But NOD32 and Kav just have two running...
One more thing, sorry, if we go to avast or bit defenders site can we actually tell what they've included in the signature update?
Thanks for listening, Chuck

Hi Alex,
probably something went wrong with the multi-license mechanism because you had to reinstall G Data on your first system after os-reinstall.
The second G Data installation on your first system could have been assumed as activation of your second "license".
Just agree to "transfer the license". Perhaps you will also be asked to transfer the license when updating your first system - please agree to this transfer, too.
It´s seems to be a cyclic mechanism. You can transfer the license up to 10 times (for each of your licenses).
If still problems occur get in contact with rokopATgdata.de.
In general:
if you are using a license for 3 PC you just got 1 license key.
After installing on the first system you have to register for updates by entering the license key and you will receive your access data (user name and pw).
When setting up the second and third system you just have to enter these access data.
Best regards,
Ford

July 4th, 2009, 02:24 PM
-{ Quote: "In G DATA Internet Security 2010.. what is the difference between Firewall High and Maximum Security?" }-
This is the description from the help file:-
The advantage of using the default security levels is that you can adapt the firewall to your individual requirements without too much administrative input or specialist knowledge of network security. You can set the security level by simply adjusting the slide control. The following security levels are available:
· Maximum security: The firewall rules are generated using very strict guidelines. In this case you should be familiar with specialised network concepts (TCP, UDP, Ports etc.). The firewall detects the slightest inconsistency and will issue numerous alerts during the learning phase.
· High security: The firewall rules are generated using very strict guidelines. So you should be familiar with specialised network concepts (TCP, UDP, ports, etc.). The firewall may issue numerous alerts during the learning phase.
· Normal security: The firewall rules are generated at application level only. Wizards keep network-specific details away from you. You will be queried as little as possible during the learning phase.
· Low security: The firewall rules are generated at application level only. Wizards keep network-specific details away from you. You will only be rarely queried during the learning phase. This level of security still offers highly effective protection against any connection requests that may occur.
· Firewall disabled: You can disable the firewall completely if required. This means that your computer is still connected to the Internet and any other networks, but the firewall is no longer protecting it against attacks or electronic espionage.

I am on my last couple days' trial of GData internet security suite.
I like it overall, but I have found that every time I restart the computer, Flashget has to be cleared manually, as does a "Gizmo" utility I use to create a couple virtual DVD drives - I have found no permanent clearing for these, and as you may have read in my previous post, I did place a tech support request with GData some time ago (weeks ago).
None the less, I am between GData and OutPost, and one GData offering that interested me was the license for three home computers, and the claim that there is special pricing available from a pop-up that GData initiates upon startup.
Whenever I click that link though I am sent to a page to renew my subscription and at best case the pricing is no different than what I found off the web. The possible complication is that the pages that follow that selection show pricing in British Pounds, and show 29 and 39 respectively for single and three station licensing, so if this is in error, at best the pricing is what I can get anyway and the claim of a discounted offer that they make is not correct, however, if in fact the pricing is in BP, then the cost is more than double what can normally be found.
I would like to know if anyone out there can clear this confusion up and show me where the three station license can be had for under $39.00 so as to prove their advertising truthful; for if proven untruthful, what assurances could I reasonably rely upon that they make whatsoever???
As a side note, if you read my posting in this forum earlier about having a couple requests in for support and that I feared I wouldn't get a response back from GData until after my trial expired (after reading through a number of complaints about GData support department), it would appear I was unfortunately correct as I have yet to hear back from them and it has been almost a month (and I am not placing my request in German nor from Germany!). Rather pitiful.
If it were not for the pricing confusion (claiming a discount and no discount to be seen, the word "confusion" being used to give the benefit-of-the-doubt in their favor that no intention to mislead ever was present) and the now evident poor support, I would not be considering OutPost at this time - I would have already been a GData customer.
In summation:
How can the three station license be purchased for a discounted price over the $39.xx I believe I can get it for from normal links?
Is their normal tech support as lacking as that which I have experienced with two trouble-tickets?

Still liking G Data...
Another thing I've noticed and maybe it is something I'm doing incorrectly. It isn't adding information to e-mails. Like the current data base version and web address (I believe).
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks

Under e-mail options, it seems that you can check it to add info to outgoing emails (which is unchecked by default) but seems the option for incoming emails is just if they're infected. That's what I read from the options anyway. I haven't got the outgoing option checked so not sure if this works - is this what you're referring to or incoming emails?

Concerning email...I tried GData and since I am trialling several possible solutions, uninstalled it. Now, every time I open Outlook I get a message regarding the inability to load the GData addin for outlook. I can't disable the addin since it's no longer there and I can't uninstall it since the program is gone. Any ideas? It's becoming a nuisance. Thanks in advance.

Close Outlook and go to C:\Users\YOURACCOUNT\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook (this is the vista path - the extend.dat is located in the same directory as the .pst file).
Delete the extend.dat file (Outlook manages PlugIns in this file - the file will be created new with next start of Outlook).
If still problems occure close Outlook, delete extend.dat again and check the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
Delete values regarding G Data (e.g AntiSpamKit Outlook, G DATA AVK Mail).

I think for incoming email it will only append info if it is infected.
So when I'm in Outlook and hit the new email/message button, it is just a blank email waiting for me to type. Maybe it does it when you actually send something. I will check this out and let you guys know...

Nope, that didn't work...
Oh well, maybe when an update comes out they'll fix that problem.
I really like it so far. It doesn't slow down my PC at all. I love NOD32 for this reason...so I'm glad G Data doesn't slow it down either. I feel really safe with it for some reason...

Thank you, Ford Prefect, that has taken care of the problem. Otherwise I was very pleasantly surprised by G Data 2010; much lighter and faster than I remembered or expected.

Well, I bought it and it instantly updated the program....
I'm now at version 20.0.4.35 (6/19/2009)
I can't really tell what is different except in Firefox now, the whitelisting button is all in one now...
I bought Gdata Internet Security. I didn't need the version with backup..I use Acronis for that!

Well, it's been some time since I asked for some guidance from tech support on a couple issues. I just posted a new request to them asking why have I not heard back from them, and where one finds the "special" pricing that is referred to by the pop-up.
I hope to find these problems are a simple miscommunication; it would be rather sad if otherwise - or worse if I still get no response...
To be fair, I will submit a question or two to the OutPost tech support department. I guess if both company's tech support is nonexistent then there would be no reason to hold that against GData in comparison.

I used Google translate from German to English, correct it if it's a bad translate.

Perhaps the update isn´t released for all available product versions yet.
If you don´t receive a program update, check your registry and post the decimal value of "Product" at hklm\software\g data\AntiVirenKit\OnlineUpdates.

Is anybody else having a problem with 'virus monitor' appearing as 'disabled' but it's actually ENABLED.
The only way you can turn it ON/OFF is by clicking the 'disabled' then 'enhanced' option.
I know it's a minor bug/glitch but it's super annoying for an OCD person like me.

Strange...
Try to start the program update manually by clicking the "update" button.
A lot of components should be modified -perhaps this will fix your problem.
If you won´t receive an update, you should post your product id as I mentioned in one of my last postings (#223).

Have you heard of any problems with GData A/V 2010 & Outpost firewall. For some reason the tray.exe would shut down after a period of time & the computer would run slow. A reboot would fix the problem. It seems that if you click on the tray icon a few times it would shut down. Once I uninstalled Outpost everything returns to normal.

Not sure if you're using the current Gdata version but there is a beta download available on their website specifically for W7.

Ford,
I purchased a 3 PC license from the international GData website. I got it installed. Problem like others in this thread is that I keep getting the "Do you want to transfer to this computer" messages on the second computer. If I do accept, it disables the update on the first computer. I read you can transfer 10 times but I don't want to do that every time I want to update. I could not find a resolution earlier in the thread anywhere, so I am asking here. I have entered my login at both computers. Any ideas?

Does anyone happen to know if there is a listing of products that are incompatible with the 2010 GDATA line? I tried to install GDATA's Internet Security a couple of weeks ago. It informed me that I would have to remove Prevx 3 and SpywareBlaster in order to continue installation. A little forehand knowledge would be good.

I have Internet Security 2010 and Prevx 3.0 installed together on my laptop right now with no problems. I loaded GData first then Prevx. Work together flawlessly.
On a side note, if anyone is going to purchase GData products, please do through Ultimate Internet Security. They have the best customer service. I purchased through the GData International website and the order was screwed up. No response after several emails. Customer Service @ UIS helped straighten it out even though I did not buy it from them. I really wish I had and I definitely will next time. They are a first class company with superb personnel. I will only buy GData through them when my license is up. :thumb:

So, I saw the behavior blocker in action tonight with of all things, iTunes. I was updating it to the new version and G-Data popped up a window that said QTask was trying to modify my system. It had a cool little details window. Informative and precise.
Still really liking the software. One of my favorites in my opinion!
Take care

Hi
Norton IS got corrupted on my system, so I decided to try some alternates:
I got G-Data IS 2010 working OK, but have these questions:
How do I report a site that was not blocked by parental Control?
How do I password protect the parental control settings?
English help file not very helpful.
Kaspersky IS sucked a bit, so I hope this is better - otherwise I have to install Norton IS to use up the rest of my licence period.
Cheers,

I have removed GData Internet Security 2010: It slowed down the retrieval of web pages significantly. There is no password protection of Parental Controls.
Parental Control blocked some pages that should not be blocked. EG Nelson Mandela Children's Fund was blocked?
I have re-installed Norton Internet Security 2008. It is much faster when retrieving web pages, and has password protection of parental controls.
Norton Internet Security 2008 is the winner. 10/10
Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 comes in a close second. 9/10
GData Internet Security 2010 is pathetic 5/10
I have 5 months left on my Norton licence, so I am not willing to try their newer products yet.
