The second alpha of Chakra was released for some days ago. Notice this is alpha so !caution! do not use in production environments etc etc.

Chakra is a new distrobution which can be summed up as: ArchLinux+KDEmod+user friendly

The new alpha has KDE4.2, Koffice 2 beta6, Amarok 2.0.1 as default

Enjoy :)

will be giving this a try ; how could you not ? : as per the description:
-{ Quote: "Chakra is a free, user-friendly and extremely powerful liveCD and/or operating system based on the award winning K Desktop Environment and on the GNU/Linux distribution for connoisseurs: Arch Linux. With rolling releases, freshly cooked packages, our graphical tools and a small but strong and diverse community, it is the computing environment you may have been waiting for. Our and Arch's community-driven development is grounded in the concept of KISS, which has been proven to be superior for people who really want to learn something about Linux or dont want to deal with administrative overhead, or are just lazy nerds like ourselves...

I have been using ArchLinux+KDEmod now for a couple of years and as soon i heard about chakra i knew i had to try it out. So i jumped on alpha1 directly when it got released and while it was kinda buggy i really liked it.

Now when alpha2 has been released i see alot of improvement, which many comes from kde4.2 of course but also to their own programs such as shaman (even though i only use the cli), arxin, tribe etc.

It's still not entirely perfect, i don't think any distro will be until at least kde4.4 is released. But at least now i have removed ubuntu which i dual booted before and dedicated my computer entirely to Chakra and KDE (iam sure i will install ubuntu once again when 9.04 gets released, can't help it, ubuntu is a great distro) :)
