Odd situation with some sites and Windows Vista updates, [...] Solved

This morning, something really odd started to happen.

I connect to the Internet, and I was going to check my email with Gmail, and I get the following message:

I reloaded, same deal.

I, then, went to login to COMODO forum, but same deal. I can browse through their threads, but just can't login.

The same error message appears.

Then, I realized that Windows Defender icon was showing (I think was at the tray bar for a few days already, but I thought it was to for a full scan to be done), and I opened it. I updated it but get an error:0x80072f8f


I then tried to update via Windows Update, but get an error code 8024A000. I am looking for info about it, and what I can do to try to solve it.

The same happens (regarding Gmail and COMODO forum) with IE.

Could anyone say whether or not you're having the same problems?

P.S: I even switched HOSTS file, just to make sure it is clean. Same thing happens.

I suspect very strongly that the date on your computer is way off.
Can you check that?

One way to resolve this is to follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type timedate.cpl, and then click OK.
Set the date and time to the correct values for your time zone, and then
click OK.

You're absolutely right! I'm on year 2092! :D

I looked at the clock on the screen, but since the hour is the same as the other system on my side, I didn't even suspected about it.

Lame... lol

And now, I also understand why my AVG 8 Pro license had magically expired. lol

Sometimes, it just takes a simple thing to solve things out.

The error code that Windows Defender coughed up when trying to update:
0x80072f8f

That led me here:
http://www.updatexp.com/0x80072f8f.html
Then I figured that also explained all cookies expiring and the certificates no longer being valid. So I jumped to the conclusion. ;)
