Ok im running a Best Data ADSL and cant open ports.

Just need to know how I can eather take this firewall off or open some ports.

Thanks for any help!

Here is a E-mail my ISP sent me.

Yes, the Best Data ADSL modems do have a built-in firewall. What I did is
called "Port Forwarding". I forwarded the inbound ports listed in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base article to your computer behind the firewall.

The model number of the Best Data ADSL router is 500E

Kazaa can cause lots of problems. Not only is it illegal to download
copyrighted material that you don't already own, there are viruses that
spread through Kazaa.

One of the reasons we provide an ADSL router with a firewall as opposed to a
modem that doesn't have one, is that it's easier for a user to setup (you
don't have to install a PPPoE driver on your computer). Another reason is
that it protects the customers computer. If we provided plain modems, then
you'd have to either do without a firewall or buy one. These days you don't
want to be without one. Firewalls don't stop viruses, but they do stop
hackers from access your computer and exploiting security "holes" in
Microsoft Windows.

There are a couple things we can try. If you and I can setup a time to get
together over the phone, I can watch the traffic and try to determine
exactly what ports are being used and make sure the firewall is setup
correctly. Another option is to configure the firewall as a modem and you
can either install a PPPoE driver on your computer or purchase a firewall
that may have better support for gaming.

Hi LoXen

...welcome to Wilders :)

What configuration options do the web based configuration pages have? Any settings for port forwarding?

They sure don't have much for online tech support as far as manuals ect.
They don't even have a configuration section listed.
I am sure you must have gotten a manual with your modem?

Why do you need to open ports?

Unless you need to publish a service on the internet, there's no need to?

Hi,

It ís ok to have all ports closed for incoming connections, unless you want others users to enter your pc.
