What can I use to back up the content on my Ipod?

If it's on your IPOD, then presumably it is also on your PC. If you're backing up data on your PC, you should be safe.

Copy and Paste works for me :). Find the folder your music is stored in and simply copy and paste it to the new location.

If you get your music files onto your computer, I would burn them to cd/dvd's. It's also best to have your important data backups on different media (cd/dvd's, hard drive/s, thumb drives etc.) and stored in different locations like a relatives house or safety deposit box in case of disaster. Operating systems and programs can be reinstalled, but important data sometimes can't be replaced.

You can also look at the premium version of syncback (which I also use), which does have some nice additional features (better scheduling, retaining multiple versions of files etc.):

There are scores of programs out there to help automate and facilitate the process if you don't want to go with the tried-and-true copy and paste.

I found out I can back up my Ipod videos and music on the PS3. :P

i have all my music/video in my ipod. I restore my previous snapshot (without iTunes installed) and install new iTunes. How can i upload all my picture/video to my new iTune?

last time when i do that all my music in iPod got deleted (since iTunes is fresh and without any music saved).

If you purchased your music from the iTunes Store, you can transfer them back to your iTunes library when you connect your iPod.

Currently, other than your purchased music, iTunes does not provide a way to transfer your music back to your iTunes library. I believe there are third-party programs that allows you to do this. You'll just have to search for them.

I have about the same problem as you most of the music came from a HDD we got from a neighbor of his music. ^ :P

I have only 100% disposable content on my 8GB ipod touch. Only video podcasts and 'free' TV episodes;)

I don't care if I lose all of it. :P

Usually, going into your iPod, the filenames are something like fass30. I'm talking about the files in the F01, F02, etc folders. However, in Vista's explorer, select a file, and look at the bottom pane in the window, and you'll see the actual file name, not the one you see. Kind of like going into properties in XP and looking at the "title", not the filename.

Thanks the Idump backed just about everything except some Russian and Japanese songs. I ordered an external HDD to back the 20 gig folder onto. :)
