So, what can I do? I'm paid on the 3rd of the month (Social Security Administration disability pension) and Eset wants its license-renewal money before 2nd February. Help! Have I any options? Thank you for your advice.

Nod will still function and protect you from known threats in it's database you will just not be able to update the signatures against any new malware for those couple days until you can renew. Just be smart about any websites you may visit or emails you open during that time and you should be fine.

Aha! Thank you very much, JPM, for enlightening me. Your information is a great relief, things being what they are on the Web!

I'm not sure if you can renew it after it expires, I think you would need to buy a new license.

yes, you can renew it after it expires. You have 60 days before you HAVE to purchase a new license instead of a renewal - of course, during this time you are not getting the latest updates.

Hello, I am pretty sure that your renewal should work even after the expiration date. If I am not mistaken I renewed a client's license last year for them a month after it expired. I believe I did it through the web site if I remember correctly. Edit - It looks like WEBYOURBUSINESS gave a definitive answer just as I was submitting my post so it looks like you will not have any problems.

Thanks for your advice and help, everybody! Barry (my Toshiba Tecra S1) and I will survive just fine for those few days. Wish us luck anyway, though!

I like how you named your laptop... well good luck keeping him safe. ;D

lol - I name stuff as well - my computer at home is BigBlue (it's big and the case is blue) - my car is Bernie. My wife calls her Jeep Jessie and the Yukon I just got rid of was Yogi. It just makes communication easier - "where did you leave the furniture polish?" - "It's Jessie's trunk" - instead of "car" - then you don't need to ask "which car?"

My Compaq Presario 5WV270 desktop machine is named Samantha. She's been rather dormant of late, but I fire her up on occasion to get all the Ubuntu updates. Barry's running on Windows XP Professional, which has the best-looking OS-tan (mascot) out there.
