Cache location, RAM (memory) or disk?

With regards the Free version, can anyone advise on whether the cache is kept , by default, in the RAM (memory) or is saved to disk. It is not easy to find this info out on the product website or faq's.

It would be much better is the Free Edition actually showed what the options look like in paid version, this may also help in any purchasing decisions.

A more transparent user interface would be better, even if the free one (personal) just 'greyed out' options available in the paid version, it would be easier to what is going on and again it may prompt a purchase.

I now use the paid version but If memory serves the answer is the same. You select disc or memory cache as part of the install process. It's set to disc cache as default and Returnil suggests a size based on your set-up but you can change that or move to RAM if you wish.

Run the install again if you want to change from one to the other or change the size of the disc cache.

For what it's worth I think the interface is fine and the web site fairly clear on the differences in paid vs free.

Both. Think about the case of an 8 GB file or folder. It would be impossible to save the entirety of that file inside 2-3.5 GB of RAM so there is need for some heavy lifting capability from the disk.

Changes to that file however are tracked in RAM rather than disk...
