I had to break out Dr. Web as my best friends PC started to slow down and the bandwidth was really taxed. Dr. Web found a bunch of trojans and we got rid of most of the problems. Here's the gist:

This computer is used by husband, wife and two 3-4 year old kids.
Of course it is going to get filled with junk. Something like Deep Freeze
wouldn't be good as they add bookmarks and update files such as documents.
I need a free AV/AM program, maybe I will just break down and buy them a copy of DW or Sandboxie.

I appreciate any and all ideas.

Try Avira free and sandboxie - can be set to save favorites.

Windows firewall is all you need

Could use A2 free for on demand scans - but Avira is all you really need.

I liked ThreattFire. It is free for non-commercial use only. But I can't estimate the protection-performance.

SAS, MBAM and A-squared are good choices for free on-demand scanners.

Maybe you could consider Adware Anniversary Edition.

ThreatFire free with GeSWall free (sandboxie would still remove files when they flush the sandbox)

Avira Free with DefenseWall paid

Wouldn't be better to make separate snapshot for every person with FirstDefense-ISR Pro which i see that your have in you signature and then for everyone you can add programs and customize personal settings?

Let's say one snapshot for the adults and one for the kids?
And one baseline snapshot.
