I have a virus that is:
1. making my desktop icons flicker
2. spontaneously launching XP file search
3. spontaneously launching Notepad
4. permits typing one (1) character, then runs away and types many of that character.
I wonder how I got it, since I receive NOD32 updates about 4 times a day.
I have tried scanning my hard drives. It never finds anything.
HELP!!!!

NOD32 isn't perfect. Furthermore, V4 beta is pretty stable and offers better protection than V2.

Have you tried this (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php). It seems to do the trick for a lot of infected machines. If successful, you could then zip the chief suspects and submit (http://training.eset.com/kb/index.php?option=com_kb&Itemid=29&page=articles&articleid=141) to Eset.
Do you have an image of your system drive you can revert to should the above fail?
If not, make one quick once you've sorted this. You can get free s/w to do this here (http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp).
Hope this helps
