I know this may be the wrong place to post this Question.
I read your post ,after you had upgraded your graphics card.
I just purchased a new card and cant get it to work.
I am also running a w3410 winxp.
Was your card a PCI or PCI express? I bought a PCI maybe should have purchased a PCI express. If yours was a PCI how did your disable on-board ATI express 200 series. I was told by someone I would need some type of adapter to use the PCI express, did you need one? What ever you used how did you do the install, the process you followed?

Hi johnnybevo.

My card was/is a PCI express. The only thing I needed to do was clean up the old ATI stuff and install the new drivers and software for the new card. The motherboard on the W3410 has a PCI express slot :thumb:.

Here are the guides that I followed the best I could to install the software/drivers and clean up afterwords. I mainly used the installation and tidying up pages.

For ATI: http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.html

For Nvidia: http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_1.html

In all honesty, I just followed the graphics card instructions and then worked through the appropriate guides. I do remember that my card didn't want to work immediately. I think the W3410 is kind of picky myself. I reseated the card and unplugged and plugged in the monitor a few times before It worked.

If you don't use your modem, you might try unplugging it. I had a problem a while back where the computer wouldn't come on except the fans ran full speed. I tried everything and finally unplugged the modem and it was back to normal. It could be that I needed to update the motherboard drivers or the BIOS.

Here's the link to the motherboard that was in my W3410.
