Hi; I have a question about possibly upgrading my video card.
I own a three+ year old Dell Dimension E510 tower with a Radeon x300 video card installed.
My computer has a Pentium 4 630ghz processor (single core with hyperthreading).
I have 2.5gig of pc2-4200 533mhz RAM installed.
I use my computer for web surfing, e-mail send/receive, and occasionally backing up a DVD or CD.
I do not use my computer to watch DVDs.
I do not have it connected to a TV, only a Westinghouse 17" monitor.
I run primarily XP, but also have Vista and have downloaded the trial of Windows 7.
I prefer the screen resolution to be set at 800x600. 1024x768 or higher makes the print too small for me to read comfortably and various dpi/font/size settings produce no preferable results over 800x600.
I am experiencing no problem with my current card except a somewhat fuzzy appearance to my desktop icons and print using Vista which no combination of settings completely eliminates at my preferred screen resolution of 800x600. XP looks excellent.
My question is;
Considering my computer's hardware and specifications and what I use the computer for, is there anything to gain by upgrading my video card ?
