I think it is Windows Live One care. What is the opinion of it at this point in time. I have a friend who is going to use it as it is free with the package. He has been using the paid version of AVG.

OneCare is an inferior product.

Stick with AVG.

OneCare is going to be discontinued anyways, MS is favoring offering consumers a free AV.

Why not try Avast?
IMHO is far more better that AVG in any way, and AVG is not so good, but it's just popular.



By using Avast you will get full product for free and in the previous year Avast detection has improved a lot.

If you are looking for free AV without web scanner than definitely Antivir is recommended.


You should visit all of the 3 products web pages and see what they are offering in their free editions as features enabled.

Hi,

Simply use avast and add Threatfire to it and you will be protected for free.

If you are willing to pay, go with KIS 09, NIS 09, Avira Premium or NOD 32.

AVG Pro is surely not the best out there but it is supposed to have a higher detection rate than one care.

My friend has made up his mind as One Care is free, and is not interested in changing. I was just wondering what the consensus was of the one care at this time. It will be OK for him as he does not surf much and would be considered a very safe surfer.

I would much rather have Avast free, but it is not up to me. I had told him that One Care was not a top AV. Thanks for the replies.

Actually, if I recall from several threads in the past here, they've been surprising by having a few detections before the big names.

They spent a lot to improve, its not the 1.0 fiasco.

Yeah I remember that too. I think thats the only AV I never tried so cant comment on behalf of my own experiences. What I know is that Microsoft have been putting a great effort in this adventure... :)
