Extra charge for upgrade to ESS 4.0?

Hi,

I started using ESS last year and I love it, would like to renew my license. However, here's my concern, since the newer version is currently in beta testing, I believe it will be out before my next license expires if I buy it now. As far as I know, most software companies charge their customers extra fee for the major software upgrade. Since it's my first time using ESET's software, I don't know how the thing is like here.

Are we required to pay extra for the newer version of the ESS? Or can we just download the newer version when it's released and use our user name and passwords just fine?

If there's extra charge for the upgrade, then I will probably use free version of Avira AntiVir temporarily when my existing license is expired, and then purchase it when 4.0 is out.

Also, another question, I saw many computer stores sell OEM version of the ESS and NOD32 for a cheaper price, cheaper than the renewal price. So, if I buy one of those, can I renew my existing account with that key? Or do I just activate it and get another account?

With ESET you generally don't have to pay for new version . Users get them for free as long as the subscription/license is active and valid.

As for the other question - I can't answer because I am not 100% sure but I suspect you can renew .

There are 2 different prices, the buying price (high) and the renew price (low) make sure you don't confuse them.

Everything of NOD32 is free, what you pay for is the updates, you can choose to use v2, v3 or v4 without any extra charges.

Also, don't renew until it expires. ESET doesn't "add" to the license time. It will start from the moment you renew.
