Spybot Search & Destroy ques.

i am confused on the different versions of Spybot Search & Destroy . At their site it says version 1.2 , at Major Geeks it is 1.3 Beta 6 , on my puter it says Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 beta 4 ...what is the newest version out ? If i Do not have the newest one out do i need to uninstall my previous version or just install the new one over the old one or what i have is fine ??thanks very much

Well kimber, spybot 1.2 is the official release that everyone uses, and at the moment it is the newest version out.
But if u are talking about beta versions, then beta 4 is an old version, and beta6 is the latest spybot version to be released, and u can download it at the official sybot forum at www. net-integration.net, and click on forum ,and u will find it under the heading spybot beta.
If u are not into beta type programmes and do not have much experience then i would stay with spybot version1.2.

Sorry that i did not not answer all of your questions, i would uninstall spybot before i download the next version that u choose, and u can remove spybot from the add remove programmes in control panel or u can also use spybots own uninstall programme as well.
It is always better to uninstall first, then download the next version, so as not to cause any problems, even though u can install version 1.2 over the top of beta 4 it is better to remove first.

Hi Mul!

You don't have to uninstall the "old" version, install the new (beta 6) just in the same directory as the "old" version and everything should work just fine. ;)

BTW: there are no great dangers to use the beta-6 version, like you say it's a beta but works without any problems!

I wonder if the stability of the 1.6 beta version is why there haven't been any updates for 1.2 in a while. Anybody know?
