OS Selector: cannot boot from CD/DVD

Hi to everyone,
I would like to ask you for some advice. I am using Widows Vista SP1 and OS Selector (OSS). My problem is as follows. I would like to install Win XP, but I cannot boot from CD/DVD, OSS cannot use bootable drive after I boot, I can boot only to Vista.
When I run OSS in Vista it recognizes bootable media, but when use boot command and reboot machine, it won't recognize it anymore and I have to boot again to Vista.
When I want to use Tool --> OS detection wizard, the item "Detect OS on CD" is disabled(not under Vista, it works there fine).
Is there some way how to make it work? I use Asus N51Va notebook with latest bios installed.
Or is there some other way how to install XP, without OSS and boot directly from CD as a first disc in boot sequence and then detecting it in OSS without destroying Vista?
I also use TrueImage so I have backup of my Vista, therefore I can experiment a little bit.

I think you should go in your BIOS settings (usually via hitting F1 (of F8, or Del) during boot.

In BIOS you can select boot sequence - set CD/DVD drive as first in order... Do not forget to save these settings...

After reboot your bootable CD should be started first....

OSS can't properly detect CD/DVD drives on some computers (chipsets). When that happens, you can't boot to a CD/DVD directly from the OSS menu and need to boot manually by setting the CD/DVD drive to boot before the hard drive in the BIOS (as stated by grayhound 62).

One thing you can check for OSS is to verify that you haven't selected the option to disable the CD/DVD drive.

Thank you for your replies. The CD/DVD device is not desabled in OSS. I have one question. I tried booting from cd and install XP, but I got an error. During the installation process, the drivers were loaded, but then I got an error suggesting that I might have a virus or corrupted disk followed by "blue screen of death".
Configuration of my disc is like this:
1. C: - primary, active (44,91GB) - Vista SP1 (Slovak)
2. D: - logical (133,8GB)
3. E: - logical (105,3GB)
4. L: - primary (10GB)
5. F: - logical (4,129GB)

When i tried to boot without OSS, I wanted to install XP on partition L:. I hid partition C: and I made partition L active. In OSS file protection is turned on.

I am sure that I have no virus in my computer.
Is there some way how to install XP?

Did you let XP do a Quick Format of the partition? I think the choice is just after you select the destination partition. I've found that this usually solves the error during the installation reboot.

If you still have problems, you might try deactivating OSS (don't uninstall) before installing XP. Make the new XP partition Active and hide all the other partitions. After XP is installed and booting properly, reactivate OSS and it should find your new XP installation and add it to the OSS menu.

I'm pretty sure OSS Folder protection is turned on by default. However, that setting doesn't have any affect when doing isolated installs (each OS is on its own partition and booting independently of the others). I usually have this option turned off.
