I have a PC Win XP SP2 with 2 partitions, both being in FAT32 format.
The "C" drive partition is only 15GB, the second partition "D" is over 40GB.

I want the "C" partition to be larger but when I try to re-size or merge...after reboot, nothing changes. What am I doing wrong? Can I only re-size in amounts under 4GB due to FAT32 limits? Or...... do I need more than the 256MB RAM that is installed?

Also, can I change the FAT32 to NTFS without losing Applications, data or OS?

Please give me some insight as to why nothing changes.

Thank you!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Generally, doing a manual Resize is recommended over using the Merge procedure.

Also, whenever you start a procedure in Windows and it needs to reboot to complete it, failure usually results in no changes being made.

Try booting to the DD CD and doing the procedure. If the Full Mode version doesn't see your drives correctly, try the Safe Mode version. Resize the D: partition smaller and apply the change. Then resize the C: partition larger and apply the change.

It's recommended to have a backup of the disk before doing any partitioning procedures just in case something goes wrong.

Thanks.
DD CD....? I downloaded the DDS from the Acronis site. I am assuming I need to create a boot DD disk using the DDS program...????
The procedure did reboot successfully, just didn't have any change no matter which way I tried it. ::)

Use the Acronis Media Builder program to create the CD. Make sure to include both the Full and Safe Mode versions. You can access the program from the Acronis menu or from DD's Tools menu.
