Hi,

I recently installed a registry cleaner called RegCure and used it to clean my registry. (Does anyone know anything about this registry cleaner, I've only heard really good reviews or really bad reviews on the web about it which all sound biased)

Now, about 9-10 minutes after I turn on my computer, I receive the following error message:

BTTRAY: Unable to start the Bluetooth stack service.

I do have Bluetooth on my computer as it came with it (Dell XPS 420 with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, 32-bit)

I'm not sure how serious this error message is, but it is annoying! How can I safely get rid of it? System restore isn't an option -- it will remove NOD32. Also, I'd like to keep RegCure, if that is possible.

*I'm not sure if this thread goes under software or hardware as Bluetooth sort of fits under both*

Merry Christmas!

Why? I hope you have backup imaging software. The best registry cleaner is "none".

There must be something I'm missing.

Hi,

I am now trying to find out how to uninstall and then reinstall my Bluetooth (my friend said that may solve the problem).

I'm not sure how to uninstall it, and, I can't find out which Bluetooth to install on the Dell Support site!

I entered in my service tag and followed the instructions until it listed everything that was on my system. It said that it should say 'Bluetooth - <my bluetooth #>'. But it's not there!

How do I uninstall Bluetooth and how do I find out which Bluetooth to install (the one I have now)?

EDIT:

A Dell Technical Agent was able to find a driver. It was the correct one but it wasn't listed for my system (Dell XPS 420); rather it was listed for a LAPTOP model. This is why I couldn't find it!

Is it likely for the error message to return if I run RegCure again to clean my registry, resulting in having to reinstall the Bluetooth driver all over again?

That's what I think will happen.

If you have imaging software you can experiment with dubious software. When things go wrong, restore an image.

Seriously Mark, Brian ain't feed'in you no line. Skip the hype (http://www.whatthetech.com/2007/11/25/do-i-need-a-registry-cleaner/), you won't regret having discovered imaging soft.

0. Make sure you didn't hardware disable the bluetooth device via keyboard combination
1. Do a System Restore from a previously saved state.

Be careful what you "clean"

Just go to Dells website, download and install their latest software for the Bluetooth.

System restore shouldn't be a showstopper either...if you installed NOD32 after your last restore date...very simply reinstall NOD32 again if you do a restore.
