I have nod32, I am looking to change the advanced options to use the least amount of ram and background processor use as I have it installed on a netbook, what would this forum suggest in changes I could do to lower the overall ram/processor usage?

I'd suggest you install new beta version, which provides set up limits. Besides it I recommend to switch off scanning of archives (RAR, ZIP,...). But, NOD32 is one from AVs, which has got the smallest requirements (see AV Comparatives performance test).

Not "one from AVs" , the one with the smallest , to be honest . ;)
I've got a netbook (Single core Intel processor 1.6 Ghz with old 512 MB RAM) and run Eset Smart Security on it , Windows XP , updated to SP3 + all updates from MS just like any regular machine with nothing special.
