The results were not surprising, since it's hard to deny that the top 3 suites in the market at the moment are Norton, Avira & Kaspersky. A special mention went to Eset as well, so I guess all bases are covered. 8)

Gee there's a big surprise. It seems like a fairly in-depth test. Looks lilke norton has made a good come back. I hate to rehash a old thread but even though norton has sucked in the past, I would try it for a while to see if it was as good.

Good test. It tested every aspect and fairly rated depending on unique features, not in general like most tests :). Kaspersky got all +'s :).

"...it should be noted that we did not analyze the proactive malware detection.", ah, when will someone do that, on XP Kaspersky is far better that anyone tested in that department...

How could they put it?
It's too new and it hasn't been tested by av-comparatives and others yet.

Comodo has been tested by AV-Test.de in latest german PC Games Hardware magazine (01/2009).

So this is common across all magazines, they all have the wrong date? I hate that.
IBK what was teh score? ;D

if I remember fine it was at 25-30% in total (it finished last, way behind ClamWin), but maybe another german user with the magazine can confirm it (or post more detailed results).

Sorry for OT but I need to ask, are you going to test "on-execution" with reduced malware samples ("retrospective" similar testing procedure)?
It would be very interesting to see what kind of security av/suite vendors offers as last line of defense...

Wow, I am surprised it was that poor. Is this CIS, or the old AV beta 2? Anyone have a link for this test?

It's not great in leak tests, but it blocked all the attacks here. With DefenseWall, I don't have to worry as much about leak tests.

What I wanted to say, is that Protecstar's review needs av-comparatives comparatives to make the comparison.
A software that has not been tested by your team, cannot be put on ProtectStar ;)
Sorry I didn't explain myself well ;)

a little off topic but is there anyway to install the premium security suite without uninstalling antivir (AV only)?

Yes - you can click on the installer and choose custom installation. It will require a restart if you add the firewall.

so i download the premium security suite installer, then run it and only choose the firewall?

Or, you can click the firewall even if the others are already clicked. It won't override any settings.

ok so when i install the premium suite it will just add to my current installation of Antivir Premium and not install 2 AV's?

MANY thanks to OP for calling attention to such a splendid report.
I am totally impressed by the apparent quality of the report, and of the tests themselves, and of the manner of presenting conclusions.
Omission of Avast seems odd, however.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My OPINIONS (duhhh) as to the OT about CIS- firewall is good, D+ is good, but the AV? Busted, disgusted, and NOT to be trusted. 8)
It was probably because only suites were being tested.
Would have been nice if OSS 2009 by Agnitum had been included for the sake of completeness.
Wow, seems like an impressive test :thumb: . Very clear, thorough and in-depth. And I especially like how they give screenshots and pros/cons.
And did anyone notice that they mentioned the new ESET 4.0 beta products (page 19, near the bottom). "Version 4.0 is to repair some points of criticism listed in the test." That's nice, it shows me they did their homework and they're at least fair :) .
Thanks for the read.
