Overkill?

Hiya guys...

My current setup includes CIS with D+, CMF and of course, Sandboxie :)

My question is, would the addition of Malware Defender be an exercise in overkill? Are there things that MD does better or differently that would warrant its installation?

I woouldn't suggest another HIPS program but SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes free on demand version. SAS free can be upgraded to real time pprotection for $20 lifetime.

SAS realtime would be a good adittion, u wont need more.

id say junk CMF and add something like SAS Pro, or if you dont like real-time AS then use SAS Free and have on demand scans like weekly or something.

I am already using the free version of SAS. Perhaps though I should treat myself to the proper version for Christmas.

I guess what I was asking was with the protection offered by CIS D+ would the addition of MD be a waste of time. Or is the HIPS provided by D+ less than that of MD?

In short, is CIS D+ enough HIPS?

D+ is enough and probably easier to use than MD, but personally i think MD is slightly more powerful and granular.

Thanks firzen771. This is what I was looking for in the way of an answer. For now, I will continue with the D+, but I will also investigate the pros and cons of one over the other.

End of the year is what Comodo is aiming for. :) Less pop ups, Hueristics, Brand new AV Signature format, expanded whitelist and hopefully Memory Firewall & BOClean will be in there too.

And like CIS is now memory usage wise, it shouldn't take up too much memory!

On a similar note, would CIS with D+ and DriveSentry be overkill? If so, what is better, the HIPS from DriveSentry or that from Comodo's D+?

After watching Matt's review from remove-malware, DriveSentry is really heading in the right direction, Either one is cool! Run D+ & DriveSentry and see what you like. :)

Look you get the full version for free, the auto updates 1 time only fee (lifetime) is more of a small donation to help improve the program, at least thats the way i c it.

you really dont need to upgrade drivesentry it will still update, only you have to click a button to make it do it. although its nice to pay them, and as GES said it like a donation to help them improve on a great program.

Wow. Can't wait! That's a lot to add since the last version. I hope the memory usage does not explode.

Because Comodo are getting so much malware from users, And so much is being added to the database, Comodo needs a more "efficient" signature format to handle all this malware, to release signatures quicker, speed things up, etc.
