Is it o.k. to run more than one antivirus program? I'm using Norton AV, and BitDefender Standard on my XP? I'm finding on Norton, it never finds a virus, and my BitDefender picks up one or more when I run them concurrently.

It's OK as long as you make sure there's only one running resident - other(s) can be installed and runned on demand, after disabling the resident running one and disabling the running services coming with it. Bear in mind not all antivirus software accepts other ones being installed as well; this could lead to system conflicts.

Why?
Because they can cause conflicts.
For example, i tried to install an antivirus program and i had not completely disabled the other that was installed on my system.
Result, my computer froze and i had to reboot into safe mode and completely disable all services for the already installed AV before my computer would run again.

I had do that as well for the reason Paul stated here:
