avast! question

I'm new to using avast and have a question about a few of its shields:

1)If I am using sandboxie as a sandbox for my browser, do I need to have the avast web shield enabled?

2) I am using Comodo Internet Security with network defense in 'Custom Policy mode' and Defense+ in 'Paranoid mode'. Do I need the avast Network Shield?

As of right now I have the Web Shield turned off but have kept the Network Shield active. I have also stopped the Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange Shields which aren't relevant to me as I don't use an email application. Any advice would be appreciated. I like feeling secure, but I don't want to clog my computer with too many unnecessary active scanners.

Doesnt Comodo I S have an antivirus as well?
If thats the case then you need to ditch one as 2 on the same system will cause conflict.
If you feel sandboxie is the way you are most comfortable browsing then you may as well turn all the sheilds off as nothing impacts outside the virtual environment as I understand.
someone correct me if im wrong.
This decision really depends on how much resource you have and are prepared to sacrifice to be protected.

Makav3l1, I only have the standard, web, and network shield running. Others are switched off (but not sure how much difference this saves on performance).

1) If you're using sandboxie, the webshield will just alert you that a virus/malware is on the site. Useful if you're frequently visiting a site and want to know if it's attempting something out of the ordinary.

No harm in switching it off. Depends if you want that alert that something's now caught in the sandbox.

2) From what I read on the avast site (http://www.avast.com/eng/whats_new_in_avast_v.html), the network shield, it is to prevent against specific 'worms/attacks'. From their site: "It analyses all network traffic and scans it for malicious contents. It can be also taken as a lightweight firewall (or more precisely, an IDS (Intrusion Detection System)."

I haven't used Comodo Defense + in a little while, but I don't think there's any problem with keeping the network shield on. I have it set to high and it seems to scan a site a second before the web shield does.

I'd keep standard and network shield on. :) Sandboxie and Comodo will take care of the rest.

The difference will not be noticed even with all the modules on or some of them off. so it is the same don't bother working with them at all

I don't think it's going to make much difference if you have them on, especially on a newer PC with decent hardware. I'd just leave all the Avast modules on. No harm. You'd not going to save much or notice much difference by turning them off anyway. And I doubt there is any conflict.

Yes it does. I have tested it and it looks like it may be promising in the future. I disabled it before I installed avast. As for not noticing a difference from turning off some shields, I would have to say that I believe I have seen a difference. When I disabled the web shield it feels like my pages load faster. It is a small difference and could be coincidence but I did notice a speed change. My system isn't old or lacking the resources to run all the shields either. It is a year old 680i Q6600 G0 oc'd quad core system. I have the processing and memory power to run these programs without affecting speed. I will test the web shield a little more for speed difference.
