I run my PCs with the SATA controllers in AHCI mode, which appears to confuse Disk Dir Suite 10.0.2160.
On bootups from Flash stick or CD Recovery media the problem is never consistent, nor repeatable -- although it mostly fails when there are USB mass storage devices involved and connected.
Sometimes it will ack the HDs, other times it fails to see any at all of the 7 physical drives present, producing this typical error message;
"E000101F4: Acronis Disk Director Suite has not found any hard disk drives."
Booting in "Safe Mode" works OK, but seriously... going without USB support is like shooting self in foot these days. It can't be considered an acceptable solution in Disk mgmt software.
Nor can switching to legacy IDE mode be a satisfactory workaround. eg. I use eSATA regularly.
Fwiw: The Mainboard chipset and AHCI BIOS is Intel and exhibits no incompatibilities with any other software or hardware installed.
Also have a SilImage 3114 PCI 4-port SATA card in the box.
Is this a common issue with DDS? (With such neanderthal search capabilities in these forums I was unable to find any related discussions on the matter.)
If DDS is a discontinued product now, which it appears to be, can anyone suggest an alternative known and proven to support modern hardware?
