Hi MudCrab,
Thanks for helping out the last time.
I have a small problem and hope you can help.
I have 1 Disk (500 GB) with 4 partitions Boot C: (xp pro), Backup D: , Vista V: (vista ultimate) and an unallocated partition. In addition to these I have an external drive with backups on it from C: and D: drives.
Now, I want to make up a backup of V: with vista on it as the drive is showing disk corruption messages and advising to do a CheckDisk which I did several times (it successfully repairs), but in a day or a few hours of use, it again shows the same disk corruption and unusable data messages.
Vista is however, unable to show the external drive. Every time I switch on the external drive Vista needs to install drivers for the Generic Drive which it successfully installs. When I go to My Computer it shows the C:, D, and other DVD drives, but no sign of the external disk.
Can you please shed some light on this?
Second question: do I need to install Acronis on the V: partition as well (I have ATI and DD already on BootC: ) in order to make backups of Vista ?
I boot into the system from the Vista Boot and have the EasyBCD from Neowin which presumably allows to separate and restore the xp boot facility from Vista. Is this an absolute no no or is it OK to use that.
I do not have very many important files on Vista and if need be I can reinstall the whole shebang without a backup, though I would like to avoid that if I could.
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you..
