Constantly disconnecting

Greetings:

An acquaintance has a modern laptop (XP 32bit SP3) and all works fine all the time. She was using Windows notta firewall and now switched to LnS 2.06p3 and got the one with VC2005 libraries. The laptop now loses connection to the wireless router with LnS and when she goes back to the Windows notta firewall her wireless connection never gets disconnected. Another computer that is wired to the router functions with no disconnects but does not have LnS on it.

She uses her computer at one spot in her house and uses AC from the wall. She has no microwave interference or any cordless phones at 2.4gHz. She is connected to her own router and it is secured with greater than WEP. She has updated all the drivers and still this behavior is replicable always.

Has anyone any ideas? Last chance is to uninstall LnS, reboot and reinstall LnS to see what happens.

[If the WiFi connection instability come's from LnS... ]

The blocked packets in the LnS log is the first place to check...

For a WiFi connection the Rules set must include the secure WiFi rule:

With some installations some other Ethernet frames may be used for the connection such as

Type 002C (44) Fragment Header for IPv6
Type 00DC (220) IEEE 802.3 Length Field
Type 0600 (1536) Xerox NS IDP
etc.

or

This IPv6 pseudo-protocol:
IPv6 Hop by Hop Option Protocol 0

or

This TCP application:
{Remote Replication Agent Connection over TCP}
using TCP port 5678

In such case I can give you the rule(s) needed to import in the rule set...

So, check the blocked packets and tell us which one are blocked. A good idea is to make a copy of the log and upload it here with the manage attachment button down to the editing windows of this forum.

P.S. The best is to let Windows managed the WiFi connection
instead of the service installed with the utilities provided by the WiFi card manufacturer. (e.g. Aegis...)
