The free for 24 hours applys to the time you have to get ZA for free.
If you get it within these 24 hours then you have a 12 month license.

Hello every one,
I believe my post has been misunderstood by some people here.
There is no scam nor catch on this. CheckPoint is giving away 12 months licenses of ZA Pro for free on Tuesday, November 18, 2008.
They will allow a 24 HOUR “window” where you can register on their web site using a valid e-mail address and they will send you a 12 months valid LICENSE KEY to unlock ZA Pro and use it. That simple.
I got ZA AntiSpyware (now phased out) on November 13, 2007 and it expired in November, 2008 using the 24 hours window given by CheckPoint last year.
If you don't like ZA or any software by CheckPoint, it's your prerogative, you DON'T have to download it. That's it.
If you think Online Armor or even Comodo are better than ZA Pro and you are more than happy using them, then go ahead and keep using them.
No one is pointing a gun at your head to force you to download ZA Pro.
When I posted this information, I just wanted to be nice because I know many people (including myself), like these kind of offers when they become available. But, you don't have to bash or insinuate that what I posted on this thread is misleading or false. Simply, don't download ZA and that's it.
By the way, I don't work for ZA or anything like that but, I do use ZA products on my PC and laptop and I like them. It's matter of personal preference.
Best regards,
Carlos

...& Tony...Thanks for the friendly reply to an ignorant, lol.
Yes, I may have misunderstood. Apologies...
Will see what will be on the coming tuesday. :)
P.S. I'm not talking out of greed....but I believe in my heart that people should be protected ONLINE...and this protection shouldn't cost a dime. Our Internet providers cost enough, yes? So, all these extras we have to pitch in not only CAN overwhelm our computer but also the wallet of the common man.
Fresh out of the box, our "window to the world" is vulnerable from the start, until we add and add - FREE or payed security.
And of course, our home we live in is our own responsibilty, keeping INTRUDERS OUT. ....
There's only a great lake's difference between those two .....or am I dreaming?

I have run ZA products for a number of years and they typically simply stop updating when the subscription expires. Whatever protection you had when they expired is essentially frozen at that point in time. So everything works, just no more updates without a subscription renewal. They also have started reminding about the impending expiration at about a month or less remaining.

Really not any different than any other subscription. Try not paying your cable bill. I've run some of the free firewalls (including the free ZA and Comodo) and always go back to a subscription version of ZA.

ZA Free will likely still be there in a year. I like the non-free ZA better for the Program Control features it has.

November 16th, 2008, 01:40 AM
JohnDoe....actually I have had the Pro version a few moons ago, ONCE - but then when it run out I deceided to go back to the Free one.
Why? Because even the Pro had a few more controls, I trust that my free ZA
protects as it should.
What do You think?
AKAJohnDoe
November 16th, 2008, 03:13 AM
As I said, I like having the additional Program Control features that are not present in the free ZA.
There's many schools of thought on this. A software firewall really does not add that much more protection to a PC that is already behind a well-configured router. Myself, I have not had a Virus or Malware/Spyware infection in years and years, nor any detected. So is AV/AS superfluous for me? Perhaps. My basic premise is to use what brings function, value, productivity, or pleasure to me. Likewise, I try not to use anything that is detrimental to any of these.
But we diverge from the main topic of this thread.

I have ForceField for 1 year and got it on Patch Tuesday. But of course, the 'catch' is, Check Point will expect us all to renew when these free licenses run out.
I also was awarded a one-year license of ZASS for beta testing. I also Beta tested Extreme but was disappointed that they are taking Ad Blocking out of Extreme (or ZAX as they internally refer to it).
I'm running the current version of ZASS (8.0590). It seems to fluctuate in performance. Sometimes it seems invisible and other times my browser seems to bog down to a crawl. Anyone else having 'intermittent' slow down issues with ZASS? I got it for free (except for my time) so I shouldn't complain.

If you, myselft or anyone else have a complaint about how other people run their forums it would be a better idead to post that at their forums.
We shouldn't start that kind of topic here because we risk going off-topic and getting our posts removed by an Admin. or a Mod.

This giveaway was announced on many websites and newsgroups. It would be interesting to find out how many responses they had. I wouldn't be surprised if it was exponentially more then they expected.
A simple way to deal with the impatience is install the ZAP trial so you can start using the software immediately and input the key afterward. That's what I'm doing - beats waiting around.

The point of a trial is to provide a full-function product for an evaluation period.
The point of a key is to register a product so that it continues to be full-function after the expiration of the trial period.

I renewed my ZAP subscription a week ago. Then this offer popped up. I actually called Customer Service and told them I'd like a refund (ZoneLabs has a 30 day refund policy) so I could use the free key. They said no problem, and advised me to wait until I got the new key and saw that it was working okay! They told me to uninstall and then reinstall, but I figured I would just paste the new free key into the Licensing Info dialog without uninstalling the program, and that worked perfectly. I then did a Live Chat thing with ZA Customer Service today and they processed the full refund in less than 5 minutes time. I've paid for a lot of ZA renewals in my time, so I figured I was due for a freebie! :thumb: :thumb:

I suppose if someone really wants ZA Pro and wants to save UK£15/US$25 it's ok.
But anyone can get Online Armor Free version or Comodo Personal - which both score much higher in all tests than ZA Pro - for free at any time.

Yes, although I won't know for certain until I actually get and input the key. I don't know why you are so skeptical. Checkpoint has offered other programs for free on Patch Tuesday in the past - has there ever been a problem where they didn't send people keys?

Yeap, unfortunately I have seen that e-mailing of ZA get often junked by ISP at the source (this happens also for support requests).
The best is to use a free e-mail service like hotmail or gmail where mail is not heavily filtered apart from getting into the junk folder.

Actually I use Hotmail and It marked the mail from ZoneAlarm Labs as DANGEROUS.
It seems ZA has not implemented SenderID (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_ID) or SPF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework), hence the dangerous rating. This may be one reason why some ISPs and mail providers seem to drop ZA mail.
