new install problems

hi, after talking a friend into buying their av i am faced with these problems:
windows security reports all fine and nod is green, but wont update.
kept getting update failed messages, on the 4th attempt got a message saying modules have been updated and virus database is current it's 3373 which is a mile away from current!
i have cleared cache and it keeps telling me it's up to date.
please help this is at the best a little embarrasing.

it's ok it's updated manually now. i had this problem myself about a year ago. one of those things i guess

and now this shows (at this time) 3572 http://www.nod32uk.com/support/index.php and nod has 3582 what the hells going on?
