Is there any slowdown with Online Armor 3?

I've been using Comodo Firewall for a few weeks. I thinks it's a fine firewall, with a lot of granular control. But because the classical HIPS Defense + module is still pretty talkative (yes, I've employed some settings to quiet it down), I've decided to give Online Armor a trial.

Questions for *objective* folks who've at least tried OA3:

Do you find OA3 to perceptably (even minutely) slow down your web browser from resolving pages? Can anyone comment OA vs CFP in terms of the general "responsiveness" of web browsers (surfing)?

I've seen a few reports here and there (not the majority, it seems) that boot times are slightly affected. In the context of my situation, I'm running an XP laptop with a Pentium M 2.00GHz Core Duo with 2Gb ram.

Never mind... played around with OA3 for a few hours... like it... bought it. ;)

Nice choice :)

Try turning the WebShield OFF and opening a bunch of websites, it should be noticeably faster with it not being scanned no more.

I now run Avast! antivirus alongside OA3 as the http/email scanning is much faster in my opinion. This is no fault of OA3, there are not that many tools out there that do not slow you down while scanning all that traffic :)

Oh I was just going to say I've used it for 11 months so far and compared to other FW's I've used it's great. ;D

he won't have to...looking at his sig he uses antivir personal..no webguard there so OA premium itself won't make a slowdown by iteself :) enjoy 1 year of safety my friend.

Yesterday I tried OA3 Free on Vista SP1 and it slowed surfing down drastically and didn't feel good at all. Opening programs.....no problem, just opening IE is no good!
I use Avira Antivir Premium as virusscanner.

the slow down is probably caused by two web scanners one from the antivirus and from the FW so i gues you should choose only one of them

Hi,

only problem is that there is no web scanner (Web-Shield) in OA Free, therefore it should be something else.
Maybe some parts of Avira Antivir Premium were not trusted or things like that.

You're right, no webshield in OA free! But it won't work for me then, as I won't be playing around with Avira, as that is the fastest/lightest scanner I've tried so far. I have Avira configured the way I want to and won't change that.

I do not use the web shield in OA,Hence No slow downs.I have web access protection with nod32 and set in active mode rather then passive mode for stronger filtering.Browser opera 9.6 and IE7 set in safer mode with OA and IN hopes the Hips will come to play if Nod happen to miss,And when surfing unknown or untrusted I fireup Shadow Defender.
