View Full Version : confused about how to get things going to expand partition

It's my first time to use DDS and I'm nervous coz I would apply it in a production server.
As you can see from the attached picture, the DATA partition (D) has very low free space and I need to extend that partition to the 135GB next to it so that it would have additional free space.
I've tried the merge operation but didn't commit since I'm afraid the data might be lost.
Please help.

Do you have a current backup image of the drive? It's always best -- just in case something goes wrong.
I would not recommend using the Merge command. Instead, I would resize the "New Volume" partition smaller and then Resize the Data partition. If you don't need the "New Volume" partition, you could delete it and then just Resize the Data partition into the unallocated space.

thanks for the help mate. I've used the Increase Free space wizard and it did the job.
